Born in Canada, raised in the United States, he returned home in 1968 and formed Heaven’s Radio in Ottawa, Born in Canada, raised one of the most influential bands in Canada’s early rock history.

In the years since, Gillespie’s non-stop solo career has been marked by five records and hundreds of live shows.

Warm, Laid back, amiably homemade, constantly surprising.

That’s Terry Gillespie’s new CD. This veteran artist offers new takes on standard blues and unusual original songs; he is passionate, pertinent, powerful, groove heavy. Home Boy celebrates musical diversity, pushing the blues in different directions. It also celebrates the artist’s 70th birthday and a 50-year career.

This is an all-ages show that everyone will enjoy. A Blues show from one of the greats! You will not want to miss this performance.

Opening for Terry is Vince Halfhide

VinceHalfhideIn 1969, in the Ottawa band Heaven’s Radio, guitarist / singer / songwriter Vince Halfhide began a long and productive musical association with Terry Gillespie. Vince’s work with Terry and other artists (Sneezy Waters, Missy Burgess, Toasted Westerns, Ball & Chain, Andrea Karam, the Jivewires, Mighty Popo . . . ) has ranged across genres from blues and reggae to country, folk, jazz and African music. In 2007, as a member of the Mighty Popo band, he received a 2007 Canadian Folk Music Award for "Best Group - World Music".

Of late Vince’s songwriting and singing have gained a growing audience who appreciate his unique take on blues, folk and roots music. Simple on the face of things and full of nods to traditional sources, his songs can change tone in an instant from playfully humourous to sadly beautiful. Listeners report being surprised by the familiar, lulled into accepting the unexpected and smiling at stark truths gently delivered.
